Neumeier returns to Mavis Staines the cheque he received for creating Yondering.

Following the North American premiere of Yondering in 1996, John Neumeier donated his fee for creating the work back to Canada’s National Ballet School to help establish a fund that would allow for an exchange of faculty and students between NBS and his school in Hamburg.

Today, NBS has a network of 24 partner schools and encourages selected senior students to spend their summers studying elsewhere. Exposure to different teaching styles and approaches broadens the students’ dancing and performance skills, complementing their dance training at NBS while introducing them to the larger dance community.

In the following video a number of NBS graduates discuss the benefits of going on exchange.
