YONDERING
John Neumeier was already an internationally recognized choreographer and Director of the Hamburg Ballet when, in 1996, he agreed to create a new work for the students of Canada’s National Ballet School. Over a period of ten days, Neumeier created Yondering. Through its exploration of youthful innocence and sense of adventure, Yondering was an ideal vehicle for young dancers.
Yondering had its North American premiere at Canada’s National Ballet School on May 29th, 1996 and was enthusiastically received. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of this seminal event in its history, Canada’s National Ballet School will be performing Yondering in its 2016 Spring Showcase.
This multi-disciplinary website has been designed to illuminate various aspects of the ballet, its integration into the academic program at NBS and its on-going legacy.
